Explosion Proof?

We’ve had several people inquire recently if our equipment is “explosion proof”. While we take immense pride in crafting exceptionally rugged machinery, I hope we never find out if it can endure a nuclear explosion. “Explosion proof” seems to have evolved into a catch-all term, primarily employed as to whether equipment is suitable for use in a potentially hazardous environment.

The National Electrical Code reflects different Classes (indicative of the type of hazard) and Divisions (indicative of the likelihood of encountering a hazardous or combustible concentration). To mitigate these hazards in equipment, one common approach is to ensure that its components are intrinsically safe, meaning they are designed to prevent the risk of causing an explosion. However, if certain equipment or components do not meet the intrinsic safety criteria, they should be shielded within an explosion-proof enclosure. Such enclosures are specifically engineered to both avert and contain an explosion should one occur.

So while not all equipment can be technically labeled as “explosion-proof,” it may still be safe for use within a hazardous environment.

COVID-19 Update

To our Valued Customers:

We are open for business during this trying and difficult time. We have shipped our equipment to many customers who operate in critical infrastructure sectors, and we will remain available for shipping equipment, replacement parts, and supplies as long as we are permitted by Federal, State, and local authorities.

We count among our customers organizations operating in the communications, critical manufacturing, dam operation, military, defense contracting, emergency services, energy, food & agriculture, government facilities, law enforcement, medical equipment, transportation system, etc… fields. As such, we feel a unique responsibility to maintain operations as needed. We have transitioned to employees working remotely where available and established CDC recommended safety precaution procedures on-site.

We are also working diligently to uncover ways where our portable air filtration systems may be of assistance in the response to COVID-19 developments.

Thank you for you continued support.

The NACE Expo 2014

Wow!  If you missed the NACE Expo 2014 held in Motor City (aka: Detroit), you missed a lot.  Two Mobile Work Station® portable booths were used for live painting demonstrations throughout the show.  One Mobile Work Station® was included in the “The Shop of Tomorrow” demonstration area, which displayed some of the latest technology for today’s collision repair businesses.  The mobile booths allowed multiple companies to demonstrate spraying their paint products on the show floor during the exposition, as well as showcasing the effectiveness and versatility of the Mobile Work Station®.
